- Introduce children beforehand: If possible try getting contact numbers of other students who have enrolled from the city and fix up a meeting once to introduce children to each other. This will reduce their anxiety of going to a new place to an extent.
- Be amiable: Make sure that you smile and have a positive body language to encourage other fellow students to come and speak to you. You can also walk up to them and introduce yourself. Ask them if you can join them for lunch or invite them for sports.
- Introduce yourself: Say hello to your classmates and roommates. You will be appreciated for this courteous gesture. They are also like you. Don't sit alone waiting for them to come to you. Join them.
- Express yourself: To make friends you must express yourself in a friendly way. Don’t force your opinions on anyone. Initially, you must try to find out about your friend’s hobbies and interests. Be ready to help them with notes or any other thing.
- Be interesting: Get involved in activities and events that you and all your mates enjoy. Always be kind, polite and respectful to your friends. Have a nice sense of humor so that your fellow students would like to be with you. Most importantly – be yourself. Take part in events where all students socialize and make merry.
- Open minded: Be open minded to new cultures. Don’t form any opinion about any culture. Try knowing people from all cultures.
